Lightroom "An error occurred when attempting to change modules." Fix

Lightroom_error

"An error occurred when attempting to change modules."

I recently began having this error in Lightroom only on one user account.

I fixed it by moving the Lightroom folder from this location. Personal being whatever YOUR user name is.

Just move the Lightroom folder to the desktop and Lightroom will rebuild the folder when launched. You may have to authenticate with your admin password when moving the folder, I can't remember.
That fixed the error for me.

I'm not sure but some onOne develop presets may have caused the issue for me? Like I said I'm not sure and even if it was those presets it doesn't say anything bad about the presets or onOne it's just one of those corruption things that can happen with computers.

I'm sure there could be other things that could cause this error so if this fix doesn't work you may want to look around more and also try this possible fix.

  • Throw away your Lightroom preferences file found in Users > Username > Library > Preferences
The file is com.adobe.Lightroom3.plist and you may also want to throw away com.adobe.Lightroom3.LSSharedFileList.plist just to be sure. (note throwing away your preferences will obviously mean you will have to rebuild them from scratch but if thats the problem you really have no choice. You can move them so they rebuild and if they are not the problem just replace them deleting the newly rebuilt ones.)

Hope this helps someone :)

It was driving me nuts because it worked on one user account but not the other.
